Breath(e) (2007)

From a distance the girl looks flushed but when viewed close up the flushing is caused by the word breathe having been stamped on her skin in red ink. Of equal importance is the surface of the actual photograph. The word breath has been stamped in blue, red ink and with clear varnish. Depending on the angle and distance these words visibility fluctuates.

A diptych selected and made for Deep Inspiration an exhibition and award by Asthma UK held at the Jerwood Space, London 30 January – 6 February 2007, supported by Gavin Turk and Damien Hirst.
